After six straight wins at the start of the current season, Barcelona have been firmly brought down to earth this last week. Last Saturday they could only draw at Valencia, and then on Tuesday evening they suffered a shock home defeat in the Champions League to Russian champions Rubens.
They still lead the way in La Liga despite their draw, and have nineteen points from seven games compared to second placed Real Madrid who have eighteen from the same number of games. With Sevilla and Deportivo La Coruna only a further three points behind Real, the championship is gearing up for an exciting run of matches.
Despite the somewhat negative results of this past week, Barca are fully expected to get the three available pints from Zaragoza on Sunday, and their only remaining absentees are Thierry Henry and Gabriel Milito.
For their part, Real Zaragoza come into the game at the Nou Camp on the back of 2-2 home draw with Racing Santander. The final result in the game was rather disappointing for the home team because despite taking a 2-0 lead, they conceded two goals in the last ten minutes of the encounter to drop two points. As a consequence they are now thirteenth in the league table with eight points.
